Review: Archangel's Shadows by Nalini Singh

Archangel's Shadows
(Guild Hunter #7)
Nalini Singh
Release: October 28, 2014
Goodreads Amazon
Return to New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh’s sensual and painfully beautiful Guild Hunter world in her new novel of sacrifice, loyalty, and the choices of love that can shatter the heart.

In the wake of a brutal war, the archangel Raphael and his hunter consort, Elena, are dealing with the treacherously shifting tides of archangelic politics and the people of a battered but not broken city. The last thing their city needs is more death, especially a death that bears the eerie signature of an insane enemy archangel who cannot— should not—be walking the streets.

This hunt must be undertaken with stealth and without alerting their people. It must be handled by those who can become shadows themselves…

Ash is a gifted tracker and a woman cursed with the ability to sense the secrets of anyone she touches. But there’s one man she knows all too well without a single instant of skin contact: Janvier, the dangerously sexy Cajun vampire who has fascinated and infuriated her for years. Now, as they track down a merciless killer, their cat-and-mouse game of flirtation and provocation has turned into a profound one of the heart. And this time, it is Ash’s secret, dark and terrible, that threatens to destroy them both.

Review:
I'm going to be real here. Out of all the characters in this series, I have been wanting an Ashwini and Janvier book the most and the longest. Honestly, I've wanted it since I read their novella after I finished Angels' Blood for the first time. I had a lot of expectations going into this and it was everything I wanted it to be and more!

Ashwini and Janvier have been circling each other and flirting for quite some time now in the previous books and it was all a fascinating and sometimes hilarious preview for this book. Guys. I freaking love these two together! The banter between the Cajun and his Hunter was magical. the romance was so sweet even as they are in the midst of hunting down a nightmare.

Although this is Ash and Janvier’s story, we get to read about most of the other cast as well. Elena and Raphael's relationship just gets stronger and stronger with each installment in the series and are finally achieving a balance. We learn more about my favorite duo, Sparkle and Bluebell. Although, I do worry about their stories because I know they're going to break my heart whenever they get fully told. My favorite part is that we got a lot more of the enigmatic Naasir in this book! The interactions he has with most of the Seven are freaking fantastic and hilarious! I'm pretty sure he's my favorite for now!

In the aftermath of the events of the last book, Archangel's Shadows has a great mix of action, suspense, and romance that adds even more depth and heart to this fabulous world Nalini Singh has created. I can honestly say that each book in this series just keeps getting better and better and I hope that it goes on for forever.
