Young Adult Releases I’m Most Looking Forward To
This is a very busy time of year for me - I’m a teacher, and the school year is wrapping up, and I’m gearing up for the release of a book! But there are books coming out (or that have recently been released) that I’m so excited about; I pre-ordered some of them months ago! Can’t wait for summer vacation and some relaxing reading time!
Here are the books that I’m most excited about.
1. The Program by Suzanne Young - Okay, I read this one a long time ago, and it IS AWESOME. Get to a bookstore and buy it! I love Suzanne’s style, and her harrowing tale of a suicide epidemic feels both real and terrifying, at the same time, the romance is amazing, and desperate and tragic. I love this book.
2. Dare You To by Katie McGarry - I read the first chapters of this book over a year ago, and I’m dying to sit down and read it in it’s entirety. Katie’s writing and characters never disappoint, and because the heroine of this book, (Beth from Pushing the Limits) is one of my favorite types of badass but fragile characters. I can’t wait to sit down with this—I imagine I’ll finish in one sitting.
3. Star Cursed by Jessica Spotswood - I LOVED Born Wicked. Loved it, and I can’t wait to read the next book. Seriously, I wish there were more magical books like this that could make me forget about everyday life.
4. Ashes on the Waves by Mary Lindsey - So excited for this Poe retelling. I find it super-ironic that multiple Poe inspired YA books have been released in the last few years (if you haven’t read Kelly Creagh’s Nevermore series, you need to rectify that right now) and of Poe’s poems, I truly LOVE Annabel Lee. Can’t wait to see what Mary does with this.
5. In the Shadow of Blackbirds by Cat Winters - Highly recommended by Lauren DeStefano, and just looks awesome. This one is already out, and is currently en route to my house. I’m excited.
Thank you Bethany! Now I have mooorrree books to add to my wish list!
