The New York Times bestselling Elemental Assassin series continues with a new e-novella--from the point of view of Finnegan Lane, the foster brother of Gin Blanco, and a fan favorite of readers of the series.

The fallout from his disastrous “family reunion” in Bitter Bite has left Finn feeling hurt, angry, and depressed. He can barely stand to look at himself in the mirror, much less eat any of the delicious barbecue from Gin’s famed Pork Pit restaurant.

But when the funeral for a slain security guard at his bank turns into a showdown with some nasty underworld giants, Finn knows that he must act in order to protect an innocent family.

Finnegan Lane might be the most unwanted man in Ashland these days, but he’s determined to try to make amends for his past mistakes...
Really Short Review:

I've always thought that Finnegan Lane couldn't be the star of the series because his shooting people, though it certainly comes in handy, is not nearly as exciting as Gin Blanco's elemental magic battles. That might be true, but I still enjoyed seeing the Elemental Assassin world through his eyes. (And he did provide some action in his fight scenes outside of shooting everyone.) Finn's angst and guilty feels started to get tedious, but this was still a quick read with a nice little twist at the end.

It's also interesting to see Gin from Finn's point of view. She always calls him her "foster brother" in the books, but he just calls her "sister." I especially liked watching Finn talk to his father at the cemetery. I always liked Fletcher, but Finn seems to have a more realistic view of him than Gin, who seems to put him up on a pedestal. I think Finn works through some lingering issues there that might have slowed down the beginning of the next novel and it feels good to have them resolved.

Sometimes novellas are set outside the series timeline and can be read out of order. That's not at all the case here. Unwanted is all about the fallout from Bitter Bite, so if you're not caught up on the series, wait and read it in order. But definitely read it - I love seeing one of my favorite worlds from a new perspective.
