Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating. So here's this week's WOW pick:
Delilah S. Dawson's Hit was one of my favorite books of 2015. That's the book that had me crying in the McDonald's PlayPlace. (Read the review here.) I can't wait to see what Patsy's up to in the sequel! But I also think the satirical elements of her world may hit even closer to home for a lot of people, given the Presidential campaigns that are going on right now. I'm really curious about how readers will respond to Strike in that climate. But if you're not interested in any of that stuff, there's still lots of action and a little romance.
Strike
(Hit #2)
Delilah S. Dawson
Release: April 12, 2016
Goodreads Amazon
The hit list was just the beginning.
Time to strike back.
After faking her own death to escape her term as an indentured assassin for Valor Savings Bank, Patsy is on the run with her boyfriend, Wyatt. All she wants to do is go home, but that’s never going to happen—not as long as Valor’s out to get her and the people she loves.
Left with no good choices, Patsy’s only option is to meet with a mysterious group that calls itself the Citizens for Freedom.
Led by the charismatic Leon Crane, the CFF seem like just what Patsy has been looking for. Leon promises that if she joins, she’ll finally get revenge on Valor for everything they’ve done to her—and for everything they’ve made her do.
But Patsy knows the CFF has a few secrets of their own. One thing is certain: they’ll do absolutely anything to complete their mission, no matter who’s standing in their way. Even if it’s Patsy herself.
Oh this sounds different. I will need to read the first one.

DeleteInteresting cover.
ReplyDeleteI really loved the first cover, but it's not one you could have a variation on for book two.
DeleteSounds interesting. Will have to look into Hit. My WoW is a YA Urban Fantasy.
