2015 Statistics Survey Part Two

book statstics stats survey

This survey was created by Brittany at Book Addict's Guide and Andi at Andi's ABCs! You can check out the introductory post here! It's just a fun way to reflect on your past reading year. It lets us look at the facts and details behind what we've read and it a nice change from the year end favorites list. Although we did that too! You can check out Gretl's Best of List here and Rose Red's here.

Since both Gretl and I are including answers, we decided to divide this survey into two parts so the post wouldn't become forever and a day long. If you missed Part One, you can find it here! So let's get on with Part Two's questions!

this & that statistics survey

Happiest & Saddest Books:
Gretl: Happiest - Grave Phantoms by Jenn Bennett
Saddest - A Secret to Die For by Sierra Dean
Rose Red: Happiest- Magic Stars by Ilona Andrews
Saddest- The Sculptor by Scott McCloud

Longest & Shortest... By Page Number:
Gretl: Longest -The Aeronaut's Windlass by Jim Butcher at 630 pages
Shortest - The Deepest Poison by Beth Cato at 48 pages
Rose Red: Longest- The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson with 1007 pages
Shortest- The Marshal and the Misfit by Blaire Brand with 67 pages

Longest & Shortest... By Title:
Gretl: Longest title - It's a six way tie! All of Molly Harper's Half-Moon Hollow titles are seven words long. So are all of her Naked Werewolf titles.
Shortest Title - Hit
Rose Red: Longest Title- The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore by William Joyce
Shortest Title- Soppy by Philippa Rice.

Longest & Shortest... Buying To Reading:
Gretl: I didn't actually buy many books last year. They're either ARCs or library books. Or I haven't read most of the ones I bought yet. I had The Last True Vampire for about a month before I read it. With e-books it's pretty common to buy and start reading right away so the shortest is probably a many-way tie.
Rose Red: For the books I read and bought this year, the longest wait goes to Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff. I bought it on release day in October and read it in the middle of December. My shortest wait would be for Magic Shifts by Ilona Andrews. I watched my kindle like a hawk and once it downloaded I stayed up all night reading it. :)

Best & Worst... Average Rating On Goodreads:
Gretl: BestThe King by Tiffany Reisz at 4.65 stars
Worst - The Hunter by Theresa Meyers at 3.17 stars
Rose Red: Best- The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson (4.62 Stars)
Worst- The Quick and the Undead by Kimberly Raye (3.37 Stars)

Best & Worst... Books You Read And Your Rating:
Gretl: I might have to agree with Goodreads that The King was the best book I read in 2015.
I had lots of 3 star books but the ones I really got mad at were Flight From Death by Yasmine Galenorn and Hard as a Rock by Christine Warren.
Rose Red: Best book was Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff (5 Stars!!!) and my worst book was The Quick and the Undead by Kimberly Raye (2 Stars).

Best & Worst... Series Enders:
Gretl: Of Silk and Steam by Bec McMaster is one of my favorites of the year and the last in the London Steampunk series. Garden of Dreams and Desires by Kristen Painter was the last in the Crescent City series and felt like two books crammed into one.
Rose Red: I didn't read a lot of series enders this year because most of the series I read this year are still ongoing. Out of the ones I did read, the best one was Of Silk and Steam by Bec McMaster and, even though I liked it, the worst one for me was The Shape of My Heart by Ann Aguirre.

First & Last... Reads of 2015:
Gretl: First- Blood Assassin by Alexandra Ivy
Last - The Vampire's Fake Fiancee by Kristen Painter
Rose Red: First- The Quick and the Undead by Kimberly Raye
Last- Adulthood is a Myth by Sarah Anderson.

First & Last... Books on Your Bookcase (1st Book on the Top Left and Last Book on the Bottom Right):

Gretl: First - The Veil by Chloe Neill
Last - Into the Woods by Kim Harrison
Rose Red: The first book on my bookcase is The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien and my last book is They Shoot Canoes, Don't They? by Patrick F. McManus

Most Disappointing & Biggest Pleasant Surprise:
Gretl: Most disappointing - The Last True Vampire by Kate Baxter
Biggest pleasant surprise - Rebel Mechanics by Shanna Swendson
Rose Red: My most disappointing read of 2015 was The Dinosaur Lords by Victor Milan and my biggest pleasant surprise was Nimona by Noelle Stevenson.

Fandom You Joined & One You Abandoned:
Gretl: I didn't read the book, but I started The 100 in 2015. And I think I'm giving up the Vampire Diaries.
Rose Red: I joined the Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries fan club this year. It's such an amazing show! If cozy mysteries set in 1920s Australia sound awesome to you, you should check it out! I don't think I've technically abandoned a fandom but I've discovered that I have no desire to watch any of the Divergent movies even though I loved the first book in the trilogy.

Series You Picked Up & Series You Quit:
Gretl: I started Molly Harper's Half-Moon Hollow series. I haven't given up any that weren't ending anyway, but there may be a few I'm still undecided on.
Rose Red: I picked up a lot of series this year but my favorite has to be the Psy-Changeling series by Nalini Singh! I could reread that one over and over again! And a series I quit after the first book was the Tombstone, Texas series by Kimberly Raye. It just wasn't for me.

Most Hyped & Furthest Under The Radar Books You Read:
Gretl: Alice by Christina Henry totally deserves all the hype. I wish more people took notice of Raisonne Curse by Rinda Elliott.
Rose Red: Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff was the most hyped book I read in 2015 while Soppy by Philippa Rice is the one I read that is furthest under the radar.

I live in the Chicago suburbs so it was really easy for me to get in the car and go to the real places mentioned in the book. The food I remember going and getting was deep dish, an Italian beef sandwich, and cabbage rolls all while reading those books.

  1. I haven't picked up the last Crescent City novel yet. I've heard a lot of bad things about it. It also was never put on audio and I listened to the first two. I love Half-Moon Hollow and Psy-Changleling series. I hope you both enjoy them. I agree that Jennifer Estep does make you crave food. I haven't read Magic Stars yet. I'm waiting on the audio. I'm really excited about it. Great list.
