Follow Friday (36)

Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee's View and Alison Can Read

Here is this week's question:

Who is best father figure in a book you have read and why?

Unfortunately strong father figures are few and far between in urban fantasies and paranormal books. So there was one series, and one series only, that came to mind almost immediately. The Arcadia Bell series by Jenn Bennett.

Kindling the Moon (Arcadia Bell, #1)   Summoning the Night (Arcadia Bell, #2)

In this series, the love interest is Lon, an slightly older man (with a sexy pirate style mustache!) who has a young teenage son. Lon is an amazing father and I love all of the scenes between him and his son, Jupe. Jupe himself is a terrific character who often touches readers' hearts with his hyperactive puppydog-ness and Lon is the perfect man to keep him in line!

Some good Lon moments:

“Arcadia,” Lon’s voice said from my phone.
“Who is this?” I teased.
“You can’t take my son on a date.”
“I didn’t ask him. He asked me.”
“He stole my cell and called without permission.”
“Sounds like a personal problem to me.”
A low growling noise came out of the phone.”

“He gathered me closer, kissed my neck, then spoke in a low voice next to my ear.
“I figure, see, if you find yourself getting more attached to the two of us than you planned, maybe you won’t think about picking up and leaving to start another life somewhere else.”
