Here is this week's question:
What is one book that you would be nervous to see a movie adaption of because you think the movie could never live up to the book?
Well, let's face it. The movie NEVER lives up to the book. Even the best book-to-movie adaptations can never include everything that the book had. With that said, here are the books that I LOVE that I am fearful of the movies for:
For Unholy Ghosts and Darkfever I fear that the uniqueness of these two amazing series would not transfer over to a movie very well. Also, the world building is so intricate and original that I'm not sure any director could ever get it right. I'm especially nervous since Darkfever IS getting made into a movie........NERVOUS! For First Grave on the Right, I just don't think any actress could perfectly capture the quirky and sarcastic nature of Charley. I'm sure we all imagine the delivery of her lines slightly differently, so I'm not really sure I would want to see/hear any actress try and portray her.
Happy Friday!
Almost all of our favorite series would apply I think. I can't imagine a movie living up to what we've created in our heads ;)
ReplyDeleteI had a hard time listening to the audio of Unholy Ghosts, let alone seeing it on the big screen ... Yikes! Not that I wouldn't love to see someone try ;-)
ReplyDeleteAgreed on all of them!
ReplyDeleteGreat choices!! Love all three!!<3
ReplyDeleteI have yet to read any of these series, but I do at least have some of them waiting for me. I'll have to take your word for it. I hear that most people can't think of a single actor who would hold a candle to Barrons.

Hopping through. Totally agree with Fever. I don't know how you could do that series justice.

All great answers. I don't think there is an actor that could even begin to fill Reyes' shoes.
ReplyDeleteHi there :) just hopping through.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any of those books but, it must be hard for directors to try to produce a movie that captures a book as close as possible.
Here is my choice...

Stacia's books are too good for a movie person to get the magic on screen! Just not possible.

Yeah, IDK, with Darkfever...I'm alright with it. I hope it doesn't suck. I really, really hope they cast it well and the special effects don't look awful and...yeah. I guess I am a little nervous for that one.

On top of the world building I can't even think of who they would get to play JZB. I haven't read the other books mentioned yet so I'll take your word for it.

You are so right! The worldbuilding of Fever and Downside seems too epic to get right in movie format. It takes almost the whole series for Mac to understand the Seelie/Unseelie world...how do you get audiences to understand in less than 2 hours?

New follower here!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. It's impossible for a movie to be as good as the book, because so many details goes lost. I always try to look at them seperate.

Old follower here. I haven't read any of these books, but I understand your trepidation.
ReplyDeleteDarkFever i agree but i still cant wait to see it.
ReplyDeleteNot familiar with these but totally agree that not everything is included in movies and sadly when directors/writers have the ability to they go and change up the facts at all the wrong moments...
