May Releases: Buy, Borrow or Beg?

Buy, Borrow or Beg is our monthly new release feature. Each of the co-bloggers is going to tell you which books they're most excited about and whether you should buy - the ones we preordered or plan to stand in line for, borrow - the ones we'll be stalking at the library, or beg - the ones we've gotten for free as review copies or prizes that you'll be begging us to tell you about. Let us know what you're eagerly awaiting this month in the comments.

Buy

Grave Phantoms (Roaring Twenties #3) by Jenn Bennett
Releases: May 5 Goodreads Amazon
I've been loving these historical paranormals. I'm so sad that this is the last book in the series, but after I read the first one I said, "I really hope that Bo gets his own book." And he did. The youngest Magnussen, Astrid, also develops some psychic powers in this one. Can't wait!

Eighth Grave After Dark (Charley Davidson #8) by Darynda Jones
Releases: May 19 Goodreads Amazon
Charley Davidson is pregnant and trapped inside an abandoned convent with twelve hellhounds waiting to attack if she sets foot outside. To relieve her boredom, she investigates a nun's death that took place there. After all the dramatic developments in Charley's life lately, I'm curious how this plan will go wrong.

Behind the Mask (The Associates #4) by Carolyn Crane
Releases: May 19 Goodreads
I love this romantic suspense series! There are several private black ops groups in this genre, but I think the Associates are one of the best. In Behind the Mask, Associates founder Zelda takes her twin's place as the hostage of a South American drug lord.

I Am Princess X by Cherie Priest
Releases: May 26 Goodreads Amazon
I'm intrigued by the premise of this book: two best friends create a comic together. One of them dies in a car accident. Years later, the surviving friend starts to see their creation around town. It reminds me a little of Pretty Little Liars, only part graphic novel. I'm going to have to hunt down a hardback of this one.

Beg

Three Slices by Kevin Hearne, Delilah S. Dawson and Chuck Wendig
Releases: May 5 Goodreads Amazon
So this book has an Iron Druid novella, which is reason enough to buy it. I hear that it's a must-read before the next novel comes out - Important Plot Points included. But it also has a Blud novella starring Criminy Stain. I am unbelievably excited about that! And there's a Miriam Black story as well - I actually have that whole series on my Kindle but haven't read it yet, so I'm looking forward to that too.

Buy

A Court of Thorns and Roses (A Court of Thorns and Roses #1) by Sarah J. Maas
Releases: May 5 Goodreads Amazon
This is one of my most anticipated books of the year! How could I not be excited about a Beauty and the Beast retelling written by freaking Sarah J. Maas?!? I'm intrigued because we find out from the synopsis that she has combined elements of the classic fairy tale with the mysterious Fae. I can't wait to get my hands on my copy!

Grave Phantoms (Roaring Twenties #3) by Jenn Bennett
Releases: May 5 Goodreads Amazon
I am both excited and sad for this book. I'm excited because it's an Astrid and Bo book! ZOMG! I can't wait to read it! And I'm sad because it's the last book in Jenn Bennett's Roaring Twenties series.

All Played Out (Rusk University #3) by Cora Cormack
Releases: May 12 Goodreads Amazon
I'm a fan of new adult books and I've had a friend that's been begging me to read this series. I got the first two books when they were Kindle Daily Deals. So when I saw that the preorder for this ebook only being $2.99, I ordered it so I can marathon the series when it comes out! Fingers crossed that it really is as amazing as my friend tells me it is!

Three Slices by Kevin Hearne, Delilah S. Dawson and Chuck Wendig
Releases: May 19 Goodreads Amazon
This is a novella collection featuring three of my favorite authors and two of my favorite series! I can't wait to read more in the Iron Druid and Blud universes!

 Borrow

Lion Heart (Scarlet #3) by A.C. Gaughen
Releases: May 19 Goodreads Amazon
This is the last book in the Scarlet Trilogy. I adore Robin Hood retellings and I enjoyed the first book in this series a lot. I need to read the second book so I'm caught up when this comes out next month. I'm a little scared about what will happen after how the first book ended.

The Wrath and the Dawn (The Wrath and the Dawn #1) by Renee Ahdieh
Releases: May 12 Goodreads Amazon
This is a fairy tale retelling of A Thousand and One Nights and I'm excited for it! A Thousand and One Nights is not a fairy tale you see used for many retellings so I'm more than a little intrigued. This is also one of those books that I've been hearing lots of good things about from several of my blogging friends. I can't wait until my library gets a copy so I can read it!

Beg

Illusionarium by Heather Dixon
Releases: May 19 Goodreads Amazon
I actually have no idea what this book is about and I'm going to keep it that way. I think this is one of those books that will be better if I go into it blind. I requested it off Edelweiss because of the pretty cover and because it's classified as YA steampunk. I haven't read it yet but I hope it's good.

Seriously Wicked by Tina Connolly
Releases: May 5 Goodreads Amazon
I adore Tina Connolly's Ironskin books so when I saw her new YA fantasy book on Netgalley I had to request it. This story is about the girl who is trying everything in her power to thwart her adoptive mother's schemes. It would be easier if her mother wasn't a wicked witch. I haven't read this yet but I've been hearing good things about it and apparently there is a dragon in it!

Uprooted by Naomi Novik
Releases: May 19 Goodreads Amazon
Guys! This book was phenomenal! It definitely is one of my favorite books that I've read so far in 2015 and I'm pretty sure it's going to be in my top ten books read this year. It's fantasy that is reminiscent of Robin McKinley's Beauty and The Blue Sword while reading like a modern Grimm's fairy tale. I'm having a hard time putting my love for this book into words. Just go read it!
