Having narrowly averted an (under)world war, Cat Crawfield wants nothing more than a little downtime with her vampire husband, Bones. Unfortunately, her gift from New Orleans' voodoo queen just keeps on giving-leading to a personal favor that sends them into battle once again, this time against a villainous spirit.
Review:

The Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost is one of my favorite series in the world. Those first four books were epic! I love how the series straddles urban fantasy and paranormal romance, I love Bones' quips and sexy smiles, I love the Red Reaper, and I love Vlad and Ian. Even when book five paled a little in comparison to the rest of the series I still toted this series as a favorite and now that I've read book six, One Grave At A Time, I can proudly say that the Night Huntress series still reigns.

This book reads more UF and less romance - Bones lovers beware of only one truly hot sex scene - but I found myself really immersed in the story. The side trips into Vlad's world for two books kept the gang alive for me, but seeing Cat, Bones, Spade, Denise, Ian, Helsing, Cat's mother, Tate, Don, etc. again was like coming home.

In this one Cat and Bones face an evil and insane ghost, hell bent on purging the world of innocent women that he believes practice witchcraft. This was an interesting foe for the gang because, being a ghost, he presented several new challenges. It also allowed other ghosts from the series, Fabian and Don, to be very prevalent in the story. Kramer was a really evil bad guy with really evil plans so I felt like the danger for everyone in the story was real.

I saved this installment to read until right before the final Night Huntress book released, which is will do at the end of this month, and I'm glad I did because I didn't realize how much I missed Frost's merry/grumpy band of men and women. Now I get to read both books within weeks of each other! (And then curl up in a ball and cry while hugging all seven books, of course...).

Recommended for fans of: Bones, strong urban fantasy, chicks that kick ass, vampires, ghosts, and awesome series.
