Follow Friday (33)

Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee's View and Alison Can Read

Here is this week's question:

This Sunday in the U.S. is Mother's Day, in celebration, what are some of your favorite books with strong mother/child relationships?

I had to look back through my 'read' list on Goodreads and think about this one.

Stray (Shifters, #1)Rogue (Shifters, #2)Pride (Shifters, #3)
Prey (Shifters, #4)Shift (Shifters, #5)Alpha (Shifters, #6)

In the Shifters series by Rachel Vincent, main character Faythe's mom is a werecat like her and Faythe thinks she is everything she doesn't want to be: wife, mother, protector of the house and the females while the 'men' go off an do the fighting. As the series goes on, Faythe learns that her mother was actually pretty instrumental in pack business and kind of a take charge kind of woman before she settled down to raise a family. I like the character arc that her mom made throughout the six books and how her and Faythe seemed to grow closer as Faythe learned more about her mom.

Happy Friday!

  1. Haven't heard of this series, but love that the mom is strong, and that she SURVIVES (or at least survives more than the first book). So often the mom dies in paranormal books. :-(

  2. Hahaha, Lauren's comment! I just read the SURVIVES at first and considering what happens in the books it is actually REALLY a surprise that the mom survived the series. XD

  3. Even rarer: when a Disney movie includes two living parents.
