Angels are falling from the sky in New York, struck down by a vicious, unknown force.Review:
Vampires are dying impossibly of disease.
Guild hunter Elena Deveraux and the Archangel Raphael must discover the source of the wave of death before it engulfs their city and their people, leaving New York a ruin and Raphael’s Tower under siege by enemy archangels.
Yet even as they fight desperately to save the city, an even darker force is stirring, its chill eyes trained on New York…and on Raphael. Rivers of crimson and nightmares given flesh, the world will never again be the same…
Those of you who, like me, adore the Nalini Singh's Guild Hunter series, have probably read a million other reviews of Archangel's Legion. I finished this book right after it was released, but had to sit on a review for a while because the words just wouldn't come. So, I'm reviewing Archangel's Legion now, but I'll keep it brief.
If you are new to this series, the first three books in Guild Hunter focus on Raphael and Elena, a powerhouse couple in the world of paranormal romance. Then we had two books focusing on members of Raphael's elite Seven; first Dmitri got his story, then Jason. So, when it was announced that Archangel's Legion would again focus on Raphael and Elena, readers cheered at the chance to see these two be the main focus again.
It was nice to see the two again as an established couple still going strong. Somehow, Singh manages to keep their story interesting even though they have long since passed the 'new relationship' stage. They are just an amazing, strong couple completely in love with each other. Singh doesn't pull anything with these two, she just lets them be what they are and let's us watch.
I love reading about Raphael's new and growing abilities and how the Cascade affects all of the archangels. The world in this series is really amazing and I enjoy getting lost in it. Both the disease killing vampires in the area and the strange supernatural events injuring angels were both really interesting plots and fit right along with one of the things that makes me love this series, Singh manages to combine beautiful romance with dark and grotesque mystery. I admit, I love darker UF and PNR and this series always delivers.
Archangel's Legion continues the well established and fan favorite Guild Hunter series with a well written mystery to solve and visits from all my old favorite characters in the series. Raphael and Elena are still going strong, and their romance is sexy and not at all boring. Singh's flowing and descriptive writing style is in a class above the usual PNR and I can't wait to read the next book!
Recommended for fans of: paranormal romance, dark UF and PNR, angels, Elena and Raphael.
